A first of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone fetched 19,000 dollars at auction in Dallas Texas.  Proving that some hyper modern firsts  are still getting people to open up their checkbooks!
Normal copies of the Harry Potter books go for under $20, unlike the autographed first edition that sold for $19,000.

Sam Weller's a Downtown Salt Lake City Institution is moving....

Sam Weller's,  Salt Lake City's downtown bookstore is moving. With the complete renovation of the area around Main Street where they have been located since 1961 in full force, the old store has been almost impossible to navigate too. Thus the need for the move. Here is hoping they can keep it all going and stay afloat!

Oregon Historical Society Closes It's Library

A 25 year in the making closure has happened. OHS is closing it's library. Due to lack of funding and revenue, the Board and it's director have chosen to close the Library and dismiss 15 staff members. This is a real travesty, but don't be fooled by thinking it happened just because we are in an economic down spin. This just the straw that broke the camels back. Very good professionals were let go, like MaryAnn Campbell and Lucy Kopp Berkley to name a few. If anyone would like to discuss this, or respond in public or private.. Please do.

A sad day for Oregon and keepers of History in General.

It also means that Spring Training is gearing up, and the sun is shining in Arizona and Florida. My Dodgers and Mariners are now together in the greater Phoenix area, and well as is going to be OK.
I am also excited about a new MLB Spring training Museum that is possibly going to be opened in Arizona. Read more....
