The Oregonian provides embed code so bloggers can post their photos directly on the page which is a direct contradiction to your comment. Screenshotting a photo and posting as if it belongs to the blogger does nothing to "expose" the work. It's a copyright violation and worse yet, it hides the source.

I know that Doug didn't understand that he could just embed the photo and there was no malicious copyright grab. I understand that it's easier to just screen shot and post a photo. That's why I politely asked him to remove it. And, if he chose not to, that would have been the end of it. It's not the crime of the century.

But, it seems to me that someone interested in books, writing and publishing would want to honor the intellectual property of others and understand the nuances of law and ethics.
