Library shares books through school libraries

Through funding from the statewide Ready to Read program, Gladstone Public Library, 135 E. Dartmouth, is taking advantage of the Public Library at Your School (PLAYS) program.

Initially, the library lent a number of picture and easy-reader books to John Wetten Elementary School. The program enabled the Gladstone library to free up much needed space and filled a need for more materials for the school's library.

This year the program was moved to the new Gladstone Center for Children and Families, at 18905 Portland Ave., where children can check out the items. The library hopes to continue this practice again in the fall. For details, call the Gladstone library, 503-656-2411, or the center, 503-496-3939.
